Run: AZ Monsoons: Run in the rain?

 Behold! My first video-taping adventure!

Today, I was supposed to wake up at 4:15 and run 9 miles. Shockingly, I actually did wake up at 4:15, but it was pouring rain (and much darker than I thought it would be). I waited around until five and then went back to bed.

Later today, I thought I might try it again. The cloud cover has kept it relatively cool outside so why not?... gah but those clouds once again did what they are oh-so-good at: making it rain.

Unless things clear up ASAP, no run for me. I was already contemplating slowing the training down since I don't really have to start training hard core for the RNR until mid September. Not to mention the legs are sore and the asthma is acting up. So overall, it's not a huge deal. I just get to feel like a fat ass all day after downing that HUGE plate of Chili Rellenos last night thinking I'd burn it all off today. FUN.

Anyways, sorry for the erratic posting this week. I'll be back on track next week. Have a great weekend!

Toodles!

OH AND.. I'm not just asking this to get comments, because I really have no idea... Do most runners run anyway when it's raining? Am I just a lazy bum? How do you compensate for bad weather--especially on long run days?

  1. It's too bad that you couldn't run but I'm guessing you need the rain so...

  2. Depends on how much rain...if it's not a crazy downpour, I try and go out anyways.

Although I have a feeling a little rest will do you good...enjoy :)

  3. I try to avoid it and go at a different time. However, if I really want to get it in and there's no chance it's going to stop, I go anyway. The half marathon I did in the rain kind of got me conditioned to it.

  4. I absolutely love running when it's lightly raining outside. I think I would have stayed indoors for the AZ monsoon though. :)

  5. I avoid it if I can....but snow, that's another story. Living in snowy Central NY, I've defintely done that!

  6. I run in the rain. I only stay indoors if there is lightning and hail. They don’t cancel races because of rain, so I run in rain. It’s actually very nice to do and conditions you for rain during a race.

  7. It's only been a couple of weeks since our journey began but we are so over the moon excited! I just wanted to drop in and invite you along for the ride - either you're a follower of my OTHER blog or just a sweet person I'd love to come along!

  8. We honestly don't get all that much rain down here in Southern California so it's hard for me to respond honestly. It's sprinkled while I was out on a run but I've never run in a true downpour.

  9. Running in torrential downpours is my favorite. I once (unknowingly) ran outside in the rain as a tornado touched down about 15 miles from me. It was AWESOME! Seriously one of my best runs ever. I figure as long as there's no lightning it's ok.

  10. I actually like running in the rain as long as it is not coming down super hard! I think it is refreshing and relaxes me:)

    Great video:)

  11. Running in the rain can be a lot of fun, especially because of the hot summer weather... now if it's raining so hard I can't se eor lightning that's a different story
